Marcel Manzardo Biography

With over 40 years of experience in technology and business, Marcel Manzardo, the founder of MMDBiz, Inc., is expert at the innovative use of technology to address and solve business problems. He deeply understands a range of business issues and is able to creatively apply technology, business process, and sound entrepreneurial skills to drive business success. His entrepreneurial spirit has helped him to launch successful businesses with world-class products and services that are unique in their industries. He is able to translate these skills to helping clients in multiple different industries and organizations.

Marcel has a passion for learning, which started early in Switzerland where he spent most of his time trying to find ways to improve processes, develop new products and solve complex problems. In his first job as a technician at the age of 16, he was able to redesign an assembly process that cut the fab time from three hours to 45 minutes.

The Swiss educational system knew talent when they saw it and continued to promote him through to one of the most notable universities in the world, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich where he received his Diploma in Electrical Engineering, won a “Silver Medal of the ETH” for outstanding thesis, and went on to become a teaching assistant at the institute of Quantum Electronics.

Marcel was then hired by Siemens Communications, where he spent twenty years as a Hardware Engineer, Senior Product Manager, and finally, as a Director of Technology & Innovation. At Siemens, he designed a complex, patented configuration tool for a new hybrid PBX system that relied on excel spreadsheets. Instead of guessing, the system engineers were able to calculate optimal system configurations which led to millions of dollars in sales for Siemens.

While at Siemens, Marcel relocated to the United States and quickly started his own company, MMDesign Studio International, Inc. There, he developed an innovative and patented method for storing and organizing CDs and DVDs. His products not only maximized space, but also simplified the process of organizing and accessing media collections. By collaborating with prominent clients such as the Container Store and Recorded Books, Marcel built a flourishing business that concluded in a successful exit in 2022.

Marcel kept launching new businesses as he foresaw the decline of CDs and the rise of the Internet. In 2010, he founded MMDBiz and utilized his expertise in web design, IT, business processes, and entrepreneurship to assist companies in implementing VoIP systems, developing websites, designing IT infrastructure, and enhancing their business operations.

Marcel loves helping people and their businesses and organizations to thrive. He intuitively identifies ways to improve and optimize business processes, develops new technology and business approaches, and quickly implements solutions.  He is excited about the future and the trends driving massive shifts in how people and businesses work today. Marcel lives in Santa Cruz, CA which he uses as a base for his world travels, and where he is engaged in his local community, loves working out at the gym, and hiking and biking in the redwoods.
